February is Black History Month. Celebrate with Your Library.

Visit the library throughout February and join us for our Black History Month inspired programming!

  • Hear from an award-winning author, musician, and screenwriter with Illinois Libraries Presents: An Evening with James McBride on Tuesday, February 4 at 7pm! You can watch virtually at home or join us as we watch the stream on our big screen projector!
  • Make an Iron-on Black History T-Shirt on Thursdays in February (except Feb 13) – we have 4 fun iron-on designs to choose from! Just bring a clean blank shirt!
  • Kids in K to grade 8 can join us on Thursday, February 6 for a special Black History Month Bingo in Fun Club (registration required)
  • Join us for a Double Feature of our favorite Wakandan Superheros on Friday, February 7! We’ll be watching “Black Panther” at 1pm and “Wakanda Forever” at 3:30pm
  • Bring the littles and join us for a special Black History Month Storytime on Tuesday, February 11 at 7pm.
  • Join local director Cordaro Johnson as he shares a short history of black people in music at Been Country: A History of Black People and Country Music on Thursday, February 20 at 7pm.

We have some special Valentine’s themed programs on February 13 & 14 for all ages!

  • Kids in K to grade 8 can join us on Thursday, February 13 for a special Valentine’s Day Craft in Fun Club (registration required)
  • Everyone is invited to bring a T-Shirt and drop-in on Thursday, February 13 to make an Iron-on Valentine’s Day T-Shirt
  • Bring the littles to a special PreK Valentine’s Day Storytime on Friday, February 14 at 10:30am
  • Kids & Teens can join us afterschool for a drop-in between 4pm and 6pm to Make Your Own Valentine’s Craft on Friday, February 14
  • Bring the whole family out for a special Family Movie Night screening of “The Princess and the Frog” on our big screen! Movie starts at 6pm on Friday, February 14
