The Richton Park Library has several collections that cardholders can borrow, including books, movies, and video games!

Length of Loan

You can borrow different types of materials for different lengths of time:

The checkout policy for materials at the Richton Park Public Library is as follows:

Fine-Free Policy

As of September 1st, 2021 the Richton Park Public Library District adopted a fine-free policy. This policy eliminates charges for overdue materials for items checked out from the Richton Park Public Library. Patrons using their Richton Park cards at other libraries may be subject to overdue fines charged by those libraries. For more information, please read the full policy.

Overdue Materials

If a cardholder has item(s) on their account that are 14 days (or more) overdue, their account will be blocked from being used until the item(s) are returned.

Items that are 42 days or more overdue are considered lost and will be billed, their account will remain blocked until the item(s) are returned or paid for.

Special Collection Return Fee

Specially marked items will have a “MUST BE RETURNED AT THE RICHTON PARK PUBLIC LIBRARY” sticker on them to indicate that they can only be returned to our facility. These items will incur a $20.00 fee if they are returned to another library.

Lost/Damaged Materials

Lost items (items that are 42 days or more overdue) will be billed at the list price of purchase listed in the library catalog.

Damaged items that have been returned will be charged a flat $5.00 fee instead of the replacement cost.

Please note: Damaged refers to items that have been broken (CDs/DVDs), items that cannot be repaired, items with extensive staining/water damage, or other issues as determined by the Head of Circulation. It does not refer to items that have minor page tears or if a page fell out while you were reading.
