If you are a resident of Richton Park, IL you are eligible for a FREE* Richton Park Library Card. Walk-ins are welcome! *There is a fee for residents of unincorporated Richton Park.
Getting a Library Card
In order to obtain a Richton Park Public Library District library card, residents must provide proof of residency. Before you come, please make sure you gather the following documentation:
- A valid State of Illinois driver’s license or other official governmental photo I.D. with your name and Richton Park address
- If this is not available or is expired, you must provide a photo I.D. plus one of the following:
- A current utility bill (gas, electric, cable, phone, cell phone, water bill) with your Richton Park address
- Voters Registration Card with your Richton Park address
- Mortgage statement (no leases) with your Richton Park address
If you want to speed up the process of obtaining a card, you can register for a Digital Library Card before you come (and have access to our digital collections!).
When you arrive, please come to the Circulation Desk and ask to register for a library card. Library staff will ask for your documentation and get the process started.
Please note when requesting a card for a minor that minors must be present to get a library card.
Cost & Fees
Richton Park Library Cards are FREE to residents of Richton Park. However, If the patron has had a library card with another institution then all fines and fees must be cleared from any adult or dependent child’s card before the Richton Park Public Library District will issue a new card. For residents of unincorporated Richton Park, there is an annual fee of $200.00 per family for a Richton Park Public Library District library card.
Replacement cards are $1.00.
Temporary Digital Library Card
If you live in Richton Park and do not already have a library card, you can register for a FREE temporary digital library card. This card gives you immediate access to our digital collections such as ebooks & databases so you can enjoy what the library has to offer before you come in!
Register for a Digital Library Card
Temporary Digital Library Cards are only valid for 90-days and must be upgraded to a full access library card before they expire. See above (Getting a Library Card) for information on how to get your full access library card.
Temporary Digital Library Cards are only available for patrons 13 and up. Parent/Guardian must be present to upgrade minor cards (ages 13 to 17) to full access cards.
